Accessible education for effective diabetes self management.

diabetesThe Diabetes Education Centres are committed to quality education and care of people with diabetes, in an ambulatory care (outpatient) setting, so that they may learn self-management skills and make lifestyle changes in order to:
  • effectively manage diabetes
  • prevent or delay complications
  • achieve self-defined optimal health
  • improve quality of life.

Description of services:

  • Individual (one-to-one) counseling
  • Group educational sessions (classes)
  • Gestational diabetes program
  • Outpatient commencement of insulin
  • Grocery shopping tours
  • Education and presentations to the community

The Diabetes Education Centers work in partnership with:

Canadian Diabetes Association, Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, Diabetes Association Brooks and District, and the Southern Alberta Renal Program.
